Matt Ginter Eats Rays For Dinner

This team is going to good right now and Tampa Bay is going so bad.. You almost expect this to happen.

I didn't want to sound crazy, but after the first inning where Ginter got out of it, I was pretty sure this was going to be a win. For the most part.. Matt had his stuff going and that 5 innings of work was great. He isn't used to throwing a lot of pitches so Wedge yanked him after five.. He did real good, making the Rays look silly. He isn't overpowering, but the Rays have been pressing. He took full advantage of that.

The offense is clicking all of a sudden. These are good pitchers too, so it isn't just a bad pitching staff.. Sure Tampa is struggling, but this offense is just going around the order and hitting. The first few innings, Garza only retired like three of the 11 hitters he faced.. It took Ben Francisco over-sliding a base just for him to record an out.

You know things are going well when things like this happen. Ryan Garko hit a high fly to right center.. Probably should be caught by a good fielder.. A so-so fielder maybe not.. Well two so-so fielders ended up sliding in front of and behind the ball.. Go figure..

Anyway, Garko was the big gun tonight.. Like I said earlier.. Garko had to be upset about losing time to Andy Marte.. Maybe it was just what he needed. Five Runs batted in including that majestic home run in which he just blasted into the bleachers.

Grady had his league leading 23rd home run of the year and he is still my pick for the Derby.

The other RBI came from Casey Blake in the 8th as insurance. The Rays were able to add four after Juan Rincon loaded them up and gave up a two run hit.. Kobayashi came in to let up another one to score two more, but got a groundout and recorded a scoreless ninth to pick up the unofficial save.

Oh hey, speaking of good Karma.. Franklin Gutierrez snapped that ugly 0-23 streak with a hit.. Great Job Guitty.

Tomorrow... I will be in the house to send the first half of the season into the books. Maybe lightning will strike twice and Jeremy FN Sowers will take down the monster that is Scott Kazmir.. Or Not.. Either way I get to see the young stud pitch and con the gate keepers into giving me a Jake Westbrook Kids Glove.. Yippie..
