Morning Update: Grady Taken to the Next Stage at Home Run Derby

All the attention will be on Josh Hamilton and his magnificent story at the Home Run Derby last night. Deservedly so. Hell Justin Morneau isn't even the center of attention and he won the damn thing.

Yet... We are a Tribe Blog and that would just be un-Tribe-like of us to not talk about our horse in the whole deal. Grady Sizemore who did look pretty relaxed up there for the most part.

"It was a little nerve-wracking up until the point that it started," he said. "But once I did, I had a good time and relaxed and tried to enjoy it." (Indians.com)

Grady Sizemore will be overshadowed, but he put on a show before everyone else did. He could have been the story the way he was knocking them out of the park. Grady fell victim to pulling a few balls that would have been out if they were fair. Still he hit some of the longest shots(aside from Hamilton) in the entire compeition and really put on a show for people. Take in mind this is all pre-Hamilton.

This has sort of taken him to the next stage in his career in my eyes. Maybe some people are going to say hey theres a great player in Center Field for Cleveland.

Personally, I think he was at a disadvantage with Big Daddy Datz throwing SIDEARM!? Are you kidding me Daddy? Sidearm?

Grady didn't rule out doing it again in the future either.. He proved he could hold his own for sure. That right porch didn't matter one bit if you ask me, most of his bombs were in the upperdecks.

Sidenote: It was great to see Josh Hamilton out there having fun with a smile on his face. He was hitting the ball out of the park and just having fun doing it. He didn't need to win for his own satisfaction. What he did in the first round was good enough.

We went over Cliff Lee's comments about getting the call for the All-Star game. But if you saw his press conference then you saw it all. He could barely hold back a smile while talking about the honor. You could tell he was just giddy with excitement. Him and Sheets were both excited and happy and it was great to see.

"I hope it's as exciting as anticipated. I just have to go out there and do my job and if that happens, I'll be even happier." (Indians.com)

I don't know if that can happen Cliff, but if it does.. You won't stop smiling for a month.

Fasuto Carmona made his rehab start for the Lake County Captains last night. Fausto pitched four innings, yielding just one hit and no runs while striking out three hitters. CastroTurf thinks he'll only need to make one more start.

Finally one piece of news here surrounding a former Indian. I'm not Milton Bradley's biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination. Althought I can't hate him for anything he said in his latest Blog.

"I don't know where it went wrong. I had a great relationship with Wedge in Triple-A. When you become a big-league manager, maybe you have different responsibilities. I don't know if he had a format as to what he wanted everybody to be. It seemed he wanted everybody to be clones of each other. I'm not that type of guy. The greatest satisfaction for me being here, is I've always done it my way. I've never wavered from that because I knew I wasn't doing anything wrong. I was just going out there and playing baseball hard, the only way I know how. Somewhere along the lines our signals got crossed. [Wedge] tried to take a stand, or appear that he was the boss of everyone, by making an example out of me. . . . So be it."

Milton you may think what you want to think. No one is calling you stupid here, even though you may think it. You are a very self-concious person from what it looks like. That's fine, but I think most people know you are a pretty smart guy. That isn't the issue. Wedge demands you play with 100% effort all the time, every time. That is what you did wrong. It had nothing to do with you as the person or you changing who you are. You point blank did not give that effort at every time and you got shipped off. You can talk all you want about doing it your way and how Texas understands you.

That's great bud, the Indians probably were willing to live with you being a hot head(to an extent of course), but when you start lolligagging out there and not giving the effort, then you are the one in the wrong.

That's all I'm going to say about Milton. He's a fantastic player when he has his head on straight and everyone can talk about this being a redemption story. Great whatever, he wouldn't have to redeem himself if he gave effort from day one.
