However, every time I read that name, I think back to the episode of the King of Queens where Carrie tells Doug, "Think of Alyssa Milano, She's hot and her last name is a cookie."
It's sad looking at that feedburner thing saying 2 when in fact it usually hovers around 35-40. Just goes to show you changing a domain name isn't as easy as "flipping a switch."
I've got very little today and it's mainly because I chose not to use it yesterday so I could post it today so I could make more Alyssa Milano jokes.
I have a strange feeling Alyssa Milano is going to be a staple of this blog. Or else the Italians aren't doing their job.
Change of Subject, that Darren Sproles is pretty small huh?
Anyway, Carl Pavano's legacy isn't done.
When I mean legacy, I mean kick yourself in the head.
It looks as if the players the Tribe had interest in were.
Carl Milano (yeah we're doing it).
Mark Mulder
Bartolo Colon
Kris Benson(We knew this)
Freddy Garcia(We wanted this)
It's just a matter, as Castrovince put it, who you think is the best mix of NOT INJURED and UPSIDE.
Which is a rather explosive combination.
I wouldn't mind Mulder, he's always been one of my favorite pitchers, but he might still have injury issues. Bartolo Colon is fat as Dave Campbell would say. Kris Benson has an annoying wife, and we all know I've been campaigning for Freddy Garcia all offseason.
But, Carl Milano is somewhere in between. You know? So.. Like I said, I'm not going to burn the house down, I'd rather have had someone else, but I'm fine with it.
Begin Cliff Lee contract extension discussion.
Cliff's agent says he's just going to let the Indians dictate that. If they are interested, by all means. Cliff still has a year left and one option year after that on his contract, so the Indians shouldn't be in any rush given the performance he just had.
Cliff Lee would probably want to get one done right now the way he pitched, but the Indians won't engage him unless he really gives them a good deal.
For the record, I'd wait at least one year before I'd think about that.
But I think Cliff is kinda like, okay pay me good and I'll be fine. He isn't going to demand money bags of money and money and more money.
That's not what I want to talk about though. Check out this Quote from his agent, Darek Braunecker.
"He's so absolutely dead-set on repeating last year's performance, and he's the most driven individual I've ever met in my life. The night he was named the Cy Young Award winner, he left my office and went to the gym for two hours. He's a very routine-oriented and regimented guy anyway, and he's probably been more obsessed with his routine this winter than ever before."People say last year was an abberation and I agree that he won't put up the God-like numbers he did last year, no one does that, it was a magical year that happens once and awhile, not just once with a pitcher. But I'd have to agree with his agent that 2007 was the abberation. Before 2007, he was actually a Cy-Young contending pitcher if you remember. Cliff Lee's norm isn't pitching bad, it's pitching good.
Now he's going to the gym for two hours right after being named the Cy Young Award winner?
Is this guy driven or what?
I'm not expecting God-like numbers, but damnit I'm expecting Cliff Lee to anchor this rotation again, because he's good and he's focused and he isn't a one-hit wonder.
I was busy doing something formal yesterday, so you can read that here.
Also, I have yet to listen to it, but will sometime today. John Gaub, Jeff Stevens, and Chris Archer were all on Tony Lastoria and Paul Cousineau's radio show last night. I'm sure Jeff had some stuff to say, but if ya want to hear what the trio had to say about the trade, listen to the show here.
