Whoa... Cliff Lee Got Pulverized

Wow...

I can't even believe Edward Mujica could be capable of such a thing.

I mean how often have I ever used the word pulverized in the history of this blog?

Cliff Lee got PULVERIZED!

2.2 Innings of 11 hits, 10 runs, just 9 earned though, 1 walk and surprisingly enough, he didn't give up a home run.

Castrovince said Lee threw nothing but fastballs in this game. Which would explain a lot. If you do nothing but throw fastballs, especially against the Rangers of all teams, you are going to get hit.

"I really worked on backing up bases today," Lee joked.

I'm baffled.. But I'm also super busy filling stuff out, so I'm going to fly through this. But at least Cliff Lee has a sense of humor about it.

And then believe it or not though... Masa Kobayashi gave up the other lone run. Two hits and two strikeouts. Wedge said he "looked better" but I don't think that's much of an endorsement, not much of a slight either though.

The rest of the staff had a relatively successful day.

Kirk Saarloos finished up for Lee and went another inning, walking one, giving up no hits and striking out two.

Kerry Wood and Joe Smith remain awesome, going perfect today for one inning each, and gathering a strike out each.

And would you look at that... Mr. Edwin Mujica himself, one perfect inning with a strikeout. His ERA is down to 12.71, by gawd.

Offensively, the Grizzle Bear has awoken.

Grady Sizemore went 2-4 with a two-run blast off Scott Feldman. Mike Brantley played center for Sizemore after and stole a base.

SIR TRAVIS!!!! Went 1-4.. Oh well, it is a hit... AC points out that Hafner will be doing a few minor league games over the next few weeks because of the National League Road Games and the fact they probably won't use the DH. It's a process though.

"We've stretched him out. Now we'll start playing him on consecutive days. It's going to take some time for his timing to come back. The only way to do that is give him the repetition he needs."

Josh Barfield went 1-2, and Ben Francisco went 1-1 with a RBI and a walk.

Matt LaPorta and Kelly Shoppach both had two hits, with a double each, and Michael Aubrey chipped in with a double himself, two hits, and a RBI.

Oh and don't look now, but Jhonny Peralta played a third today, the world did not end and no pigs flew. So ease up.

Really.. I get it though... With Cliff... I don't care if Cliff gives up 90 runs this spring, just do it. Get it out, get your control down sir. That's all he's been doing and hell, I'm not doubting Cliff Lee's gameplan. He had one that worked last year.

Plus as Cliff said, this is the team he's facing on opening day, so don't give em anything they can use for that.

There's been some rumblings about Pedro Martinez over the past week and I've just ignored them. Hoynes has brought it up though and he says that if the Indians had the money, they'd do it. I don't know if I'd do it if we I had the money, maybe as a relief pitcher and I didn't have a deep pen.

Chris Gimenez said that he wants to be one of those few people who's played all nine positions in one game.

"Trust me, that has gone through my mind," said Gimenez. "I want to be one of those guys."

He's the man to do it.

There is an off-day tomorrow, so it will either be no update or quick update. Three more days of work, things are going good. Hopefully I can build up my energy for the summer, I won't be working all five days by then though. But I can also watch games so, win-win-win Michael Scott style.

I've yet to strike up any Tribe conversations though. I plan on doing so soon though. Someone needs to wear a shirt or something to give me a clue.
